A dreamy corner spot to curl up with a book, with an incredible city view. via La Dolce Vita
Remember this living room from (the old) Domino magazine? I know I would be afraid to use this much color, but with the traditional furniture and accessories it really works. Such a pretty room. (image via)
What are you up to this weekend? One of my best friends is visiting from out of town, so I’m excited for some girl time. I hope you have a great one! Below, a few links I liked this week: – If you haven’t seen this stunt, it’s worth checking out. Also, Enya. – From the New York Times, a look at female competition. – The BEST commercial for a girls’ toy company. It’s about time. – Another amazing commercial: Bailey’s Nutcracker, with choreography by Benjamin Millepied. – A colorful, modern apartment makeover from the perspective of the client and designer. – Betty Knows Best. Another week has gone by already! This whole unemployment thing really makes the days run together. It’s supposed to be a little warmer here this weekend so I’m looking forward to stepping away from the computer and getting out into the city. I hope you have a fun and relaxing weekend! Below, a few things I found interesting this week: – The Bear & The Hare: UK department store John Lewis created an amazing stop-motion/animated holiday commercial. The behind the scenes video is incredible! – There will always be a soft spot in my heart for Vermont. This One Kings Lane sale was a much-needed dose of New England style. – Love this quote. – The history of the to-do list (and how to make ones that really work). (image via)
The lines of this window are so gorgeous, there’s no need for shades or curtains. Love this one. (via)
This weekend I’m looking forward to laying low – working on the apartment, catching up on emails, and hopefully getting outside to enjoy this beautiful fall weather. And maybe a little stress baking. Is that a thing? Here are a few things I found interesting this week. Wishing you a relaxing weekend! – The haircut heard ’round the world. – A J. Crew commercial would be the most stylish commercial ever. – 14 signs your perfectionism is out of control (guilty). – Tim Walker’s The Granny Alphabet. (Top image via Toast’s Autumn/Winter lookbook)
I’ve got two fabulous window seats for you this week! Alexandra Kaehler designed these custom window benches for a recent client project. You can check out the rest of this beautiful space here.
First of all, November? What? How? Blerg. On the bright side, November means that one of my friends is getting married tomorrow! I have a feeling this wedding will be pretty epic, and I’m so excited to see lots of out-of-town friends. Hope you have a fun weekend!
If I had money, I would live in Club Monaco clothes. And actually, I wouldn’t mind living in the store, either. The 5th Avenue store was just renovated, and it is GORGEOUS. Pale gray walls with white moulding, vintage rugs, chevron floors – amazing. Even the dressing rooms are better decorated than my apartment will ever be. What a week! I’m sorry for the light posting – I’ve been in a frenzy of moving and unpacking these last few days and my brain is a bit fried! On Wednesday we drove back up to Vermont to get the rest of our stuff out of storage, then drove it all back down to New York. Let me tell you, driving a 14′ moving truck through NYC traffic is not a fun experience. But we made it, and now we’re surrounded by boxes. Now that this move is REALLY official, I’ve been thinking a lot about risk. Moving has been a big leap of faith, especially now that we’ve fully committed to it. But I’m happy about it. And it is nice to sleep in my own bed again. This weekend I’ll be unpacking, building IKEA furniture, and maybe thinking about a Halloween costume. Have a good one!
